These 2 painters have a lot in common with Hammershoi. They were Danish and they were leading artists at their time. They painted the silence and the muted light of the danish days. Ilsted was Hammershoi's brother-in-law too. I love these too but I still do prefer the nostalgia and the dramatic but peaceful mood that covers Hammershoi's paintings that I can't really find in these.

These are lovely ... Danish art is a favourite of mine. But I see what you mean about there being a different 'energy' in these pieces.
